Who Can Register & Vote?
- People who have no shelter – YES, Can use address of shelters or check with local faith-based org.
- Students in School out of State YES, Using Absentee Ballots
- Required ID in California – NO, But California does require ID for first time voters
- Preregister at 16. Vote at 18.

Where Should I Vote?
We now have Vote Centers, Not Polling Places.
- Next Election Daty (Gubernatorial Election): Tuesday, November 3, 2026
- Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at drop-off location, or your county elections office
YES I CAN! Vote if…
- In County Jail serving a misdemeanor sentence.
- A misdemeanor never affects your right to vote.
- In County Jail because jail time is a condition of probation
- On probation
- On mandatory supervision
- On post release community supervision.
- Completed parole.
- If you are currently homeless.
- You can pre-register to vote at age 17.
- (Your right to vote is automatically restored when you complete parole. You need to fill out a voter registration application online at www.RegisterToVote.ca.gov or use a paper voter registration card found at the Sacramento County Voter Registrar)
